Freedom of speech is the most important right with which we as American citizens have been blessed. This natural right is enforceable with the protection recognized by the second amendment, the right to bear arms. These rights are not mutually exclusive as the first right should, in theory, prevent the need of the second. But when the first fails to accomplish its political goal, the second amendment is the only means by which a people can defend the rest of their rights.
The foresight required to broach this topic can be reached by any child with even a marginal education in the basics of human freedom. Our natural right to free speech includes the freedoms of expression, the arts, science, and anything else you can possibly think of. Freedom of speech makes movies possible, art, books, and even protesting. Without this right, there can be no democracy, no republic, and absolutely no freedom.
When injustice has doomed America, it’s the freedom of speech that has come to the rescue. It was there when early American’s protested taxation. It was there to champion American support for the French revolution. It existed in newspapers who called Andrew Jackson a “butcher of his own men” when running for president in 1824. Freedom of speech was there when the Teddy Roosevelt stormed the republican convention in 1912, and left with a huge chunk of the republican establishment.
The freedom of speech is America’s oldest friend and most important ally. But, such speech hasn’t gone unfettered. The right to free speech has been oppressed throughout the history of western civilization by those who would do harm to the rights of man in service to the dark lord of oppression and political power.
The early revolution, that which led to the American Revolution a bit later, took place when a man named Martin Luther sent his ninety-five theses argument to the Archbishop of Mainz in 1517. Upon further publication, his theses were nailed to the door of All Saints Church which of course led to All Hell Breaking Loose over the churches greedy corrupted unsupported practices of selling passage to heaven. It was the creation of the printing press that helped Luther, and his supporters, debate and argue Christian ideas that enflamed the protestant reformation effectively ending the Vatican’s control of the Christian religion.
The printing press is just as important as the invention of gun powder for the reasons highlighted above. Freedom of speech, the spread of ideas, the counter-argument to those ideas and so on and so forth are the flames that ignite the fire in the hearts of men. It’s the revolutionary faith that was born in the reformation era and that faith was carried fourth as the Renaissance continued throughout western civilization.
The United States is a direct result of these freedoms surviving the turmoil of oppression that was bestowed upon them. Fleeing old Europe and its oppressive existence and creating a new nation based on the values of the Enlightenment is what continues to distinguish the US from every other nation. We recognize, and I highlight the word “recognize” this fundamental natural right because it is one that cannot be taken away except by violent force.
What does the violent force of oppression look like? It looks like the leftist political agitators who have continued their siege on American freedom by using violence against those they disagree. Their war on freedom, on our way of life, and on the first Amendment is no different than the stealing of freedom we witness under the dark scourge of Islamic fascism. The history of the lefts war on rights is by no means a new affair.

Their monopoly on academia is so famous and well known, most college students don’t even form republican groups on campus. Attempts to do so are usually met with protests and threats of expulsion from school for the members. To the tyrant, any idea’s that threaten the status quo are the enemy.
But you don’t have to just see recent left-wing anti-speech movements or look at the long history of oppression by anti-speech tyrants to see what’s happening. In leftist controlled Europe, free speech is non-existent. In 2009, an Austrian citizen Elisabeth Sabaditch-Wolf was sentenced to imprisonment for “denigrating religious beliefs” during a lecture series she gave on the dangers of Islam.1 Her trial consisted of only a judge and her right to a trial by jury (a natural right and our 6th Amendment) was not recognized.
The EU Parliament has taken an extra step by writing a procedural rule for a debate to be interrupted if its “defamatory” or “racist”.2 They have even gone so far as to apply the ruling on the recordings of Parliamentary discussion and will erase the offending material from the record. The problem with this, as with all alleged “hate speech” rules is that such speech is largely defined by those who disagree with the position, not on the actual contend of the speech. Speech codes and hate speech laws do nothing to support the ideas of liberty but deprive people of freedom under the sinister banner of justice.
Being an American, I, and you, have to live with the reality that anyone can stand outside the coffee shop where I write my posts carrying banners that say “Stop niggers from blogging! WHITE POWER!” Albeit an unlikely scenario to occur, it’s a right nonetheless that we must protect at all costs.
The same right that allows me to write this blog is what would allow those protestors outside. It’s the same right used by MLK to deliver his I have a dream speech. It’s the same right used by the Dalai Lama when he speaks in the US, and it is the same right that allows the KKK to hold meetings. It’s the same right, the same amendment, that ensures churches can assemble about anywhere, without government interference, whether it be a typical congregation or a wine party for Dionysus. These rights are absolute for a damn good reason.
And that’s the problem with the left. While these rights ensure that Tolstoy books can be printed and Plato can be discussed on any street corner, the left wants to get rid of such speech. The left wants the Glenn Becks to be silenced, the Adam Smith books burned, and all criticism ended. They are the new oppressors following the same evil ideology that we saw in pre-Renaissance Europe. Total domination of mind, body, and soul.
In the information age, the left will continue to escalate their calls for violence because they have no other course of action. When an individual cannot be bullied, sued, threatened, or publicly shamed by their goons into obedience, violence will be the only way to get what they want. The election of a republican president certainly goes against their goals and as the machinations of democracy continue to fail them, they will have only one course of action. Terrorism… and they’ve already started.
